My sketchbook involves looseleaf smooooth thick white paper and marker of choice or vellum. If I’m working on a commission project, I begin in pencil and once a concept is worthy I trace it in pen…When sketching for enjoyment…give me a Flair marker and sheets of premium laserjet paper.
I’m an andamento junkie, I love the challenge of evenly dividing a space into tesserae. This is the beginnings of a repeat pattern to come.
Even though I’m a classically trained mosaicist, not every project needs to last for millennia. It’s fun to create a ‘mosaic’ for a shorter term life that can be applied via print, engraving, debossing, etching…
